They also made it a crime to drink within 2 hours of driving. You get caught having a beer at 6 pm after work it's legally a DUI

There is a carve out for if you had no reason to expect the cops. It's worded like that because before they started oppressing !boozers, if you got out of your car the second you were pulled over and chugged a mickey at the roadside in full view of the cop car camera, it was literally impossible to convict for DUI

You can drive while having a BAC of less than 0.05 in Canada. The gay part is that technically 2 hours after you're still not allowed to slam em, but realistically you're not going to get in trouble for this unless you're like leaving the scene of an accident and they come catch you and you're trashed. I don't think anyone actually pays attention to that law tbh
