The actually r-slurred part imo is that life sentences here are too lenient with early releases, as life just means 15 years minimum after which offenders might be released if they're deemed to not be a further danger for society. I wish we had life without parole kind of sentences for crimes like this. We're so progressive that you can straight up snuff out a life here and get out ez pz if you can convince some (presumably) female psychologist

Even if he had received "preventive detention" he would not have been considered a prisoner anymore and would be entitled to a kind of prison apartment and even occasionally being allowed outside of prison grounds under supervision.
