Given that he seemed like a cool guy from his comment, I wanted to try to look up more about Russell Trimble. Disappointingly, the only Russell Trimble I was able to find is likely the same guy - b. 1886 and electrical engineer - and was "king kleagle" of the Ku Klux Klan until he resigned, citing graft and financial mismanagement, after 3 years in the Klan.

If it is the same guy, I think I also found his obituary - b. 1886, d. 1961, lived in New York and New Jersey at the right time, had a wife and son. His son was also Russell Trimble and just died in 2020 (though of cancer, not Covid, and seems to have been a decent guy - married 63 years, lists kids and cats in the obit. I found him before his father.)
