Oldcel also. All my friends that made it past 50 as runners have had major orthopedic consequences. No knee cartilage, spontaneous fractures etc.
I was never a runner because I am slow. Got fat but over COVID started taking long walks every day, 5 miles on weekdays, 10 + each weekend day. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. No commute means I got the time, I stopped watching TV more or less also.
I'm back to normal BMI, I can see me ribs without sucking anything in, lost. About 55 lbs and kept it off. Had COVID this week so probably dropped a few more but that will come back on.

Are push ups enough to work out the chest?
I'm running and rock climbing atm which works out everything other than my chest, and I don't won't to pay for a gym membership for chest alone.

Yeah, I got decent growth on my chest with just push-ups. I do them in higher number of sets (40), but would also recommend decline push-ups too.
It depends on what you want though. If you’re looking for a lithe build it’ll work fine, but if you’re looking for something a lot bigger then you’ll need something more

What are your goals? For muscle gain probably not, for general fitness it might be fine? You're going to quickly outgrow your body weight unless you do weird variations or do weighted pushups with a backpack on or something which still isn't ideal. Best thing you can do for yourself imo is buy a pair of adjustable dumbbells and a budget bench so you can do full workouts.

Do you still do the scrums in touch rugby
I really enjoyed rugby when i was a teen, had to stop cuz of knee problems but i always ejoyed it,
Scrums however were always painful since the coach kept putting me in the front row of it since i was big n strong but we would never win scrums because i was approximately 30cm taller than the other dudes in the first row and it would frick up our balance :(
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
No, there's no scrums. Restarts are either penalties (defense has to retreat 10m, and the attack taps the ball on the floor with their foot to restart) or roll balls (someone steps over the ball on the floor and someone else plays the ball away)
I was always a winger in union since I'm 185cm, 70kg and reasonably fast, but I switched to touch when I went to uni because union at universities in the UK has a reputation for being full of peepeeheads.
One year the student union tried to make everyone at touch do some sexual assault course because something mad like 25% of all sexual assaults reported involved members of the rugby club (we told them to frick off because we had nothing to do with it, and they agreed). Another year there was a r*pe that got covered up by the rugby club, but I don't really know the details there, and afaik it didn't make the media.
That's shitty if they kept you in the front row despite the issues at the scrum, I don't know how mobile you were but if you were big and strong you probably could have done a job at 8. To be honest though, I have no idea what you lot in the forwards get up to, since I was much too 70kg to get involved in any of that nonsense. I just chased kicks, let my full back handle the tackling and occasionally got walk-ins in the corner.
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
it wasnt really shitty, it was just what was available, it was a decently sized club, very competitive (rugby is big in italy), but i wasnt good/fit enough to be on the main team, so i was in the B team and it was what it was, i know being tall can be good but when youre the only tall one- on both teams- it can get awkward
Let me tell you though i wish i didnt just quit after having knee problems and getting fat cuz i have lots of good memories from rugby
The main squad though, they were fricking brutal, some of the most fun i had was doing serious practice drills vs the good players and just getting brutally slammed into the ground repeatedly

Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
You should really not activate the injured area for at least 2 weeks and switch to doing rehab/therapy instead if you want the pain to go away and for your back to heal. Otherwise you'll probably never fully heal and risk turning the pain chronic.
Jump in the discussion.

There are exercises I just stopped doing, like good mornings and conventional deadlift, today I did paused squats and I feel i should probably stop doing those for a while too, back/front squats and sumo deadlift didn't seem to bother me this week
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
Just because you're recovering a little doesn't mean you aren't hurting yourself still. By continuing to work out the muscle, you don't give your injured muscle time to fully rest. All you're doing is continuously enflaming it and building up scar tissue. Pushing through injuries doesn't make you stronger, it just fricks you up more in the long run.

I hit 11% body fat this week!
That was my original fitness goal, something like 8 years running now. Couldn’t do a push up in high school, had to do them against my door. Now I do them in sets of 40.
I’m 5’11” (181.5cm) and now weigh 172 lbs. Started at 203, down to 170 freshman year of college, up to 185 at the end and stayed there because of bad friend choices, shot back up to 203 at the start of the pandemic because my grandmother baked cakes daily and I couldn’t stop eating them. Lost all my progress in like a month. Worked my way down to 163 over a year and a half, and have been bulking hard the last four months or so, now up to 172.
It’s been a good run

Training has been going well for me. I was struggling with some lower back pain which has impacted my cardio, but I've managed to almost eliminate it now with consistent lifting, running, and stretching. My running has been getting better and better, I can now run for 2 miles continuously when at the start of the year I could barely do half a mile .
