Diversity is important, but all this browbeating comes from people who are the least interested in diversity out of anyone. How many times are we going to get another story valorizing some middle class humanities major who's totally kick butt and has no flaws and is perfect and everyone who hates xir is a chud and also maybe something about colonialism or whatever?
I'm not gonna pretend Max Payne 3 was a masterpiece of writing but it was about a guy realizing he's aged into an out of touch addict who wasted his best years narcissistically living in his own head. There really does need to be some sanity checks where whenever companies try to listen to someone about how we need to design an X to market to new demographics and represent diversity, they just immediately and completely disregarding them if it ever becomes clear they want to design a self insert.
Like it still blows my mind that no one at Capcom slammed on the breaks on DmC whenever the lead dev redesigned Dante to look exactly like himself as some weird attempt to attract western audiences. As if a single fricking person in the West played a Devil May Cry game and came out of it thinking Dante was too much of a nip.

Max Payne 3 is extremely underrated tbh. Everything feels perfect gameplay-wise in a way that most third person shooters still can't match and it still looks great like a decade later

In terms of gameplay I preferred MP2. MP3 was fun but it was made in that time where developers were obsessed with cramming physics into every area of gameplay so it feels slower and less precise than the first two. The set pieces for the game were really good though, it captured that shitty Deathwish sequel feel really well (like shooting the rockets out of the air while dangling from a helicopter lmao)
