Nobody has a natural right to get a bunch of state subsidies to record/broadcast media, put that media in my brain, and then forbid me from engaging in my own expression if it's too closely-inspired by that media.

Ms. Keefe seems to miss that plagiarism is also bad for reasons unrelated to copyright law. I don't get to transplant paragraphs into my writing just because I found them in the 1911 Britannica.
