Whenever that sub includes actual literature it's almost always an out of context passage that is being analyzed from a YA novel viewpoint where good characterization is when the reader's self insert fantasy about being a girlboss isn't disrupted.

The foids that talk about good characterization on reddit always mention how the female characters they're reading being objectified by other characters or taking a backseat to the action makes them feel bad.
