It can't really be the same. The arab spring was closer to the original iranian revolution than the lugenpresse was willing to let on - it was mostly islamists looking to overthrow secular dictatorships (or quasi-dictatorships). This time its an islamist dictatorship that might get the ol' heave-ho. Hopefully if that happens it will actually be a secular democracy that is put in place. They have a decent chance to succeed because Iran is actually relatively educated.
