It's called Financial Independence, Retiring Early. It's best to break this early by insisting on an expensive wedding and call it unrealistic (because you'll be spending that money of course).
So I recently turned 29, and found this community last year. I from the start have been keen on saving money, but wasn't really a problem because I make a decent/good salary in MCOL, but now maybe subconsciously try to spare any dime I can to try to FIRE by 45 or latest 50.
I spoke to my Fiancé about this recently and the thoughts on retiring early, and she has recently has started to get annoyed about my interest in retiring early and is the total opposite, and says she wants to enjoy life now and worry about the future later.
This has come into fruition even more now, as now my fiancé wants to have a big butt wedding which may cost about 75 - 100k, and she does not have the funds on her side to pay for it. She will get her family involved she said and get them to pay half.
My fiancé knows how much I make, but has no idea how much cash I have saved, I told her a fake number a while back, and I'm afraid to tell her about this, as I am afraid she will guilt me into paying for most of the wedding, when I am pushing for just a simple wedding with family and then go on a nice traveling honey moon.
She is started to say my scrounging and saving for cash is starting to get a little overboard, and I need to control it as it's not great to have these habits so young, when we should enjoy. I personally don't think I have changed my habits that much, maybe I say let's invest more and cut out outside meals or maybe I'm just talking about money more than she likes.
My financials: - 550k cash in multiple HYSA - 50k 401k ( started contributed late, am contributing heavily now) - 0 debt - 280k total comp with base and RSU combined
Her financial: - 18k debt - don't know how much she has saved (she told me like 20k a year ago) - 85k salary
The huge discrepancy in net worth is also a reason I feel like she doesn't see the value of money as much as I do, but I can't heck her this as it may come off weird. Does she have a point though, or am I wrong and being kinda cheap?

Normally I think redditors suggesting divorce are insane, but I don't think I could marry someone with such a different viewpoint on money. Especially the wedding thing, that's show zero financial responsibility. A prenup isn't enough unless you can teach her how to live below her means and still be happy.
Not being poor is way more important than getting crumbs of married kitty

there are a weird amount of women who literally know nothing about finance or money in general. like just up to their butt in credit card debt and carry on like it's nothing and don't say shit about it, either. i guess they expect their future husband will pay it? idk

My wife was the same way, but I helped her make more money, pay off her stupid (50-60k) credit card debt, and now she works and I'm retired. It was the financial equivalent of marrying a fatty and chaining her to the treadmill.
