By FAR the worst noise I've ever heard in my life was that of a deer screaming its head off in panic and agony as it was getting eaten alive by coyotes. It went on for at least 5 minutes, but it felt like an hour.
I've often wondered since then if the coyotes were truly indifferent to the suffering of their prey, or if they were actually enjoying their meal more by eating it alive and listening to it scream. If it's the latter, then wild animals are more like humans than we give them credit for....
Good point, but that's the thrill of the kill (which every hunter knows), which is not necessarily the same as taking pleasure from another creature's extended suffering.
