Never got these kind of places. Expensive shit that taste like....meh. ingredients that 90% of the English speaking world can't even pronounce much less know what they are. I like some ridiculous food but have never been to one of these places that actually deliver.
Nobu is a meme. Name a city and I can recommend better Japanese at the same price. I was visiting home and one of my old friends wanted to go after we were at cool experimental cocktail place. The girl I drove with had never been so we made a stop otw back to Austin.
It's all about the fish right? Dress it up anyway you want but a good fish is a good fish. Affordable good ceviche in Mexico can beat out anything. Experimental cocktails are another meme, you might as well be tasting experimental sodapop. Wine has everything in taste and culture you could hope for.
To be honest, YES. there is a peak quality of fish. For a 10 course omakase, $150 is peak. After that it becomes that restaurant/chef’s flair. Ive had extremely expensive raw fish from Venice to Tokyo so don’t let anyone tell you CUTTING IT 2mm DOWN CHANGES EVERYTHING.
