I tried a mint chocolate soylent from walmart and it sucked . It had the same chalky flavor as a bad protein shake its not creamy like soy milk. It also leaves you feeling bloated as a shit after can't imagine drinking this during a hike or workout as a meal replacement there. Its also 400 calories at like 3$ a bottle at 400 cals a bottle so you'd need to drink 4-5 a day to have this serve as a full meal replacement. If you wanted to live an ana life style drinking 2-3 a day could work.

Aggressive marketing funded by Silicon Valley funny money. We’re disrupting the food industry and hacking our biology, seizing back our precious time from the tyranny of meal preparation.

It followed the same trend as all the other mail-order services like that one (can't remember the name) that would deliver all the shit you needed to cook dinner, plus a recipe. It's all marketed at people who think they're so busy that they can't find time to do basic shit, they need everything to be delivered right to their door. Soylent is the laziest one of all, because its entire marketing is that you're so busy and every precious minute of your life is so important that you need a whole fridge full of it so all you ever have to do is pop open a bottle and you're ready to go. That way you can do all the important shit tech bros need to do, like ruining all the local bars next to your new campus by being incredibly loud and annoying with all your dipshit friends who think they've made it.
