Favorite Soup?

I love soup. Unfortunately, I now live in an area where soup is nearly the same temperature as outside. I still enjoy it on the winter months and inside my home if I lower my thermostat down 3 degrees to 65.

Anyway, here are my top 3 soups in no particular order (they are all #1!):

Pho- I know the Vietnamese have a few other great dishes, but I will never try them. Why bother? They somehow perfected chicken soup, which is probably the #1 comfort food of everyone in the Western world (and Vietnam apparently). Everyone knows what chicken soup tastes like, so I don't need to tell you, but they add a bunch of crap that makes it better.

Red Curry- All curries are amazing. It's creamy, sweet, spicy, and savory. It triggers nearly every taste sensation. You can't go wrong with any curry, but red is my favorite. I like spicy foods and red typically is the spiciest. Add pineapple and shrimp and I think this dish has one of the most complete taste palates.

French Onion- I don't care much for french cuisine. I don't see much of a difference between them and the Chinese that eat live mice. At least the Chinese don't pretend like it's some high cultured experience. However, no one can deny their cheese, baguette, and french onion soup is amazing. Rich, sweet, salty, and savory. The only reason this isn't known as an American dish is because they had several centuries head start.

What's your favorite soups?!

Curry isn't soup. It's somewhere between sauce and soup. It's own thing. Not soup

It's primarily liquid. It's a soup. I e never understood anyone who tries to make a distinction. You and all others that try to do so are stupid.

It's fricking coconut milk, spices, veggies, protein, and rice. The only two unique ingredient are curry paste and coconut milk. It's still a fricking hot liquid based dish. It's a soup.

Chili isn't liquid.

Ranch isn't the primary dish, it is a condiment.

Latte is a drink.

Gravy and au juis also is not the primary dish.

i’m also a big pho fan and borscht enjoyer (:marseynpc::marseyitsover:). last fall i was really into making italian wedding soup. i never had it until a couple years ago and got a little obsessed after i tried it because it’s so good. i like to jazz it up by making lamb and pork meatballs instead of beef/pork.

Minestrone if we're talking everyday soup, it's cheap, easy, you can riff on it, and not get sick of eating it all week. Also, it's delicious

Split pea in terms of special occasion soups, it's great but you need some good ham or it's a waste of time

French onion as a once in a while soup. Stinks up the house and isn't that nutritious, especially when you add cheese and bread but it's really fricking good. When I have leftovers I do at least one night where I toss some garam masala in it to turn it into a sexy Indian soup and it's great

I always make split pea after roasting a ham. It's a bit of a b-word to clean up after but so good.

I very much like all the different crème and purée soups. My favourites have to be mushroom ones and leek, onion & potato one

Also I really like borscht except I probably don't make it properly by the Ukrainian recipes because I don't like pig lard and also my mom used to add beef and beef stock to it which just makes it better so that's what I stuck with since

Bonus: bread soup

It's not really a soup, it's a desert we have here. But I like it and it has soup in its name so I'm sticking it here too
