Courtesy of Alton Brown:

1 cup thai chili sauce (like Mae Ploy)

1/4 cup rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup Dr. Pepper (trust me on this)

bring to a boil over medium heat and reduce to one third the original volume. toss with wings and sprinkle with kosher salt.

Sautee some minced or crushed garlic in butter. After it's roasty melt the rest of a stick of butter and add like 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Then dump a bottle of Frank's in it to make a regular buffalo base sauce. Then I like to split that up and use different types of crushed peppers to make different flavors with.

I grow all the peppers myself and have a bunch of jars of different types though so you're kind of on your own for that part. Check the Mexican aisle because they will have a bunch of different types if you aren't as horticulturally gifted as I am.

Frozen wings - 5 mins in the pressure cooker - straight to the grill and baste

Anything else is a waste of time and effort. Use any sauce at all, but remember the sugar will burn

Ignore everything in the article except the sauce, since that's all you were looking for. You don't need "rice syrup" either, just substitute sugar and water or don't because there's already ketchup in there anyway.
