Uber dynamic pricing is good for two reasons:

1. When lots of people want rides it encourages drivers to come out and supply more rides.

2. Without dynamic pricing, the cost of riding is (1) the price you pay and (2) the time you waste waiting. (1) is a transfer, (2) is pure value destruction. Dynamic pricing converts waiting time into paying more, which is good from a welfare perspective (burning less time). However, if you're poor, you dislike converting waiting into $ because your time isn't valuable but your cash is.

Fast food dynamic pricing is basically only gives you the second one, which is fine, but it's going to piss off poor people, which is a good reason to do it in my book.
