Why did they only make zero sugar Oreo Coke? :marseypepe2:

I was excited to try this especially since it even got the @pizzashill seal of approval. Unfortunately they only make it as a variant of Coke Zero. I can't stand aspartame :marseyyikes:

!sodadrinkers !goyslopenjoyers Why did they do this to us? :marseycry:

Also has anyone tried the cookies? :marseychonker2:

Many people find that aspartame has a metallic taste. Professionals who formulate flavors usually like to combine it with ace-K for a more well-rounded, sugar-like sweetness. Ace-K wasn't broadly approved in the U.S. for, like, decades. Before sucralose, this meant products that only used aspartame, resulting in a lot of disappointing experiences.

@RWBY you one of these metallic tasting types, b-word? I find it to be sweet with less aftertaste than sugar. @nuclearshill :marseywave2: thanks and I love you and this is fricking exactly the fricking type of :buckchecker: I hoped to generate. Thank you @syscoshill, too.

@Corinthian I don't know where Asians come from or why they love the flavor of dogs yet not Coke Zero, but I'll tell ya about the real problem with sugars and carbohydrates in general.

As you consume sugar (don't fall for the fructose scare meme) your body releases insulin to initiate a cascade of signals to digest it.

This is all well and good, you're a mammal, that's how things are supposed to work. But sugar is uncommon in nature. It's an energetically expensive chemical to make, but we have cultivated our fruits to r-slurred levels of sweetness. You might as well Skittles versus an apple these days.

At some point in the 70s people started to get fat. I blame the CIA for cocaine busts. However one can see that the ingredients in food products started to advertise "low fat!" while increasing sugar content to make up for flavor.

It turns out that Big Sugar promoted that fat makes you fat, so eat more sugar.

This is fricking stupid.

Not only does this contribute to insulin insensitivity -- Type 2 Beetus -- but your body can only store around 500 grams of sugar in your muscles and liver. All other sugar beyond that gets converted to fat.

Funny enough, your brain needs about 100 grams of sugar a day to not die, but it actually has an alternate fuel source -- ketones. Which is actually what brains normally consumed before we invented obesity.

!fitness witness

Bodybuilders have two diets. One to gain a lot of weight really fast, and one to lose a lot of weight really fast.

Simply put, they eat mostly carbs to gain 50 pounds in the off-season, and don't eat carbs to lose the weight and hopefully gain a pound of muscle before they have to go on stage.

TLDR don't eat carbs. Drink dirt soda. It's not a fad. It's just normal. Also don't be Asian.

Most alternative sugars are butt but I think I remember sucrose not being so bad. Aspartame is especially butt.

Doctor pepper is probably the soda that benefits most from replacing the sugar. Regular 'pper tastes disgusting after a couple swigs.

Same shit with gatorade rain berry frost flavor, it was by FAR the best gatorade flavor and the only one besides lime cucumber that isn't disgustingly sweet.

They discontinued it like 5 years ago and the replacement berry flavor is only available in zero-sugar form. It's not the same.

I thought Coke Zero (no longer officially called that, FWIW) used sucralose, not aspartame. Diet Coke has always had aspartame.

Says aspartame right on the bottle. Don't usually buy Coke Zero so idk what the normal flavor uses.

Wow, even regular Coke Zero Sugar seems to use aspartame and ace-K now. From the Amazon product page:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1726783480931749.webp

Yet, Coca-Cola's official site for Coke Zero Sugar says it uses sucralose and ace-K:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1726783732310464.webp

E: The second image is for the product in India. Coke Zero Sugar is aspartame + ace-K in the US.

I do remember liking Coke Zero more than regular Diet Coke because they used to use another sweetener :marseythonk: Maybe it changed when they stopped selling it as Coke Zero

It's been reformulated a couple times, and the sweeteners seem to vary by country even for the same generation of formula.
