Idk if you're like me and half a life sized Frostmourne replica but this guide will get you straight. I may post Andúril later.

I'm not a straggot and engage in physical hobbies not metal Funko pop collecting. So my swords actually are practical and see use. Wipe down and oil after use is all you need to do.

Learning a language is also a very good thing to do. Unless it's Norse runes: then you're just larping. Same thing here.

They're for HEMA. Historical European Martial Arts. You study longsword techniques from either Germany, or Italy and put them into practice through tournaments, sparring etc. It's kind of an expensive hobby because you need a bunch of protective gear since you're doing full strength blows with steel swords. It's why the one is so chipped up and dinged.

Gear wise it's like fencing gear but more intense so you don't get killed.

I'd guess the edges aren't very sharp then?

They are completely dull. Edges are rounded. People buy sharp longswords to cut reeds or pumpkins just to see if you have your cuts and edge alignment right. It's fun.

HEMA looks like a lot of fun. I would try longsword fencing if I had the time
