Does this shirt go with this tie?

It would :marseywood: not let me move the other post. I am wearing charcoal :marseyburned: pants :marseyjeans: with black :marseybipocmerchant: shoes :marseyinboots: and a black :marseyyakub: belt.

You could pull it off if you're hot but that's an ugly shirt and an ugly tie, at least make one of the two more interesting

It is form fitting and I have an athletic physique so I think :marseymindblown: I can make it work. Why is it ugly though? Seems like sleek colors :marseytrippy: to me.

It's too form fitting, those last two button holes by the waist area have been stretched out a bit. The colors aren't necessarily wrong, just the shirt being that green limits your options. If you insist on that tie, just get a white Oxford shirt. The tie is better than the shirt, but not by much. A full wool tie, solid color, dark blue, would work better; the extra sheen on yours is a bit too much.

Seems like it fits okay to me. Too late now because I bought it already. Will probably fit better :marseysaulgoodman: once I iron it. I thought :marseymindblown: the blue was better :marseysaulgoodman: sleeky for the purpose of contrast? There  are probably some darker blue ties I can steal :marseytrumpitsoverwereback: somewhere around here though.

Ok mate, in that light, that shirt is a different color than what I thought. I thought it was green-ish in the original pic; in the second pic, on you and in the light, it's a decent grey, which I like. Tie choices - in my view - should complement the pants and your shoes, while avoiding clashing too much with the shirt. So, if you're going with black slacks, black loafers, then I'd actually suggest a dark red/brown/dark-ish orange tie (or all three in bold horizontal stripes). I suppose that would also work with brown slacks and brown loafers too.

My original tie rec would also work, just not that one; it's got too much sheen and you'll look like you just shop and Van Heusen as opposed to somewhere better. Solid blue tie, thick wool, that'd work. Brooks sells those by the thousands, you can even go cheap and ask for the "irregular" ties.

I ended up just going :marseysalmaid: without the tie because I got there  and was trying to put it on but couldn't do it LOL.

Ha! You know what's funny? I've been wearing a tie nearly every day since I was in HS (all guy's catholic school) and in the several, several, several years since...I still need a mirror to put it on properly. If I try to do it without a mirror, I always frick it up.

Thank you I don't feel as bad about fricking :marseytom: it up now because that was literally :marseyme: my first :marseywinner: time ever trying to put one on by myself :marseycyanide: lmao. Is this Jewish :marseykyleb: Chloe Sevigny?

The trick is getting the length to the waist properly and then an appropriately thick knot. I usually go with the full Windsor with a little dimple, but you have to be cognizant of the shirt collar you have. Four-in-hand knots are for dirt people and poors. Windsor collars are good, spread collars are better, and never go with the long points; button downs are nice too. And never forget collar stays, metal ones are great.

t. I wear a lot of suits on the daily.

You look like your shirt's been inflated.

But I don't like the colour on you. You could do with a bit of a pattern, or less of a washed-out grey.

Exactly. It's why I picked the flashy :marseyneon: tie.
