The only way reparations could even slightly get traction is if it could also come with a guarantee that it shut down any future complaints about slavery or historic racism. Since that can and will never happen, then no amount of white guilt will ever be big enough to truly force the issue. And it doesn't take much for even well-meaning liberals to get sick of recurring freebies for African-Americans only for them to complain louder about how much they suffer.

Kamala's biggest strength right now is she's already lost leftoids due to her history as a prosecutor. Anything she does to appeal to them will only lose her votes.

South Africa and New Zealand went through this and it just becomes a permanent patronage system that you can't get rid of. Although over there it's constitutionally embedded which makes it nearly impossible to end. That's why Australians tried a referendum for their reparations stuff, liberals know it has to be done at the constitutional level to be permanent.
