I watched it (not out of my own volition), and it was such a generic Teen-Drama show I somehow was disappointed without having any expectations.
The mystery aspect felt very lackluster. Big Lebowski is a better detective the Wednesday. There is a love triangle in this show.
Only good thing was the main actress. She was great in her role. Too bad her characterisation was inconsistent (why is she upset about her father being a murderer, she should be pleased with that).
Also, the finale was reaaaaaaly bad.
Can't wait to be forced to watch season 2 when it comes out...

Same. The larger themes/metaphysical conflict comes out on the second time around, at least in S1-3. The writing takes a dip during the writer's strike, lots of characters explaining where they're going/why they need to go there with no subtext, nonsensical tiebacks and retcons.(The Others just let the Dharma Initiative build their shit on top of the donkey wheel+room that summons the smoke monster?)
Even with all that it's still better than 95% of modern TV.

I read somewhere S3 was supposed to be the end. Due to it's popularity they kept it going. That's why 1-3 is much more tight thematically. Apparently the Island was supposed to have been a purgatory of sorts and that's why the characters all basically relive their own sins and past in a different way on the island

I recently did my annual watching of “Aguirre, Wrath of God”. For some reason this film captivates me and makes me return to it every year or so.
Finally watched the House of Dragon and it turned out to be shit. I have no clue why it is being praised by normies as a “return to form” when it is the same nonsensical drivel that seasons 7-8 of GoT were. The upside is that I began re-reading the ASOIAF books as a way to cleanse my mind after House of Dragon. I forgot how legitimately good the books are and I am thoroughly enjoying them right now.

The problem is that if you actually exert any amount of brain power into it you quickly realize how nonsensical a lot of plot developments are and how wildly inconsistent the characters behave cough Daemon cough. In the Mouth of Madness: IMO best John Carpenter horror and better than the Thing (which is also excellent ofc). One because it has Sam Neill and two because the story is insane with excellent practical effects. (Youtube with Ads)
The House of the Devil: Ti West production, cinematography was good but the story was pretty bland. If your whole film is slow dread you need a better hook. (Tubi)
Needful Things: Great Stephen King adaptation with Max von Sydow and Ed Harris. Really good though I think Storm of the Century is still my favorite Stephen King property. (Youtube)
