Good Will Hunting

I posted a clip of Robin Williams's monologue from this movie as a part of advice I gave today, and this analysis played after that and made me appreciate it as an even greater film than I already had:

I had to watch it again. Forgive me for moral stragging, but this encapsulates exactly what is wrong with most of us here and probably the world at large: A compulsion to aggressively mock and belittle others as a defense mechanism to avoid facing our own short comings and challenges. Even though, unlike Will, we are not the world's smartest people, but in fact r-slurred and neurodivergent.

The content of this film just scratches the surface of how unique it is. Not only did it give Robin Williams his best serious acting role, but it also reminds us of how good Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are (or at least were), who don't get as much respect as they deserve.

Both their performances were just okay, but the only meaty character was played by Robin Williams, let's face it. What is really impressive is that, on top of acting, they were both the screen writers of this film and won a well deserved Oscar because of it.

They were both in their 20s. This is so rare to see even in shitty movies that make it to the big screen, let alone being personally selected for an Oscar.

Anyway, watch this analysis of the movie if you already have seen it. Watch the darn film if you haven't.

That’s one of my dad’s favorite movies. Not mine though, a good film yes, but not my cup of tea. But my dad always got so exited showing it to me and my sister it always reminds me of him, so nice memories.

Watch the analysis! It solidified that it is one of the best non-fiction films not involving war!
