The only movie featuring Rob Schneider I've ever watched entirely

Watched Dredd a while back and finally watched the 1995 version. Probably Schneider's best performance, never finished Demolition Man because he was so grating. If you edited out his character in this movie there would be almost no difference to the plot.

Actually pretty good for 90s sci fi, lots of props and they worked around the limits of the sfx mostly. Never read the comics but feels more like a comic book movie than Dredd, which imo was middling. As good or even better of a movie than running man, imo.

!r-slurs what's ur favorite muscle man sci fi

You couldn't finish Demolition Man because of the collective like 12 minutes of screen time Rob Schneider had?

He just grinds my gears, same with Will Farell and Nicholas Cage

Maybe it's some deep seeded hate for the slimy character he played in Home Alone 2 sitting in the back of your brain, locked away. Or one too many people screaming "You can do it!" If you're old enough to have suffered through the Waterboy release as a kid.

I can't stand Sandler either. Never has their been an unfunnier comedian.

I think it's just that Schneider's screen presence is awful but I'll concede that if they wrote him a decent role he might actually be OK.

I am conflicted about how stunning Sandra Bullock is and how much she also looks like Michael Jackson.

Pitch Black is excellent.

You rank Escape from L.A above escape from NY?

The idea of a tactical glider was rly cool in the first one, but the rest of the movie wasnt cyberpunk at all

_Judge Dredd_ is pure 90s action cheese and I love it. I have a thing for 80s and 90s action overall. Modern films of the genre are CGI trash that obliterate my suspension of disbelief.

Yes I can believe that a working class everyman can shoot bad guys in Nakatomi Towers.

No I can't believe the bad guy rammed the good guy's cargo plane mid-air to have a fight while the plane crashes.

I think my favourites of the genre are:

  • Die Hard

  • Demolition Man

  • First Blood

  • Under Siege

  • The Terminator

Demolition Man was upsetingly prophetic

Is under siege worth watching? I dont think ive ever watched a Segall movie.

I held off watching Judge Dredd because i only heard bad things about it, but it's no dumber than robocop. The props are actually better than The Fifth Element, and the megacity is portrayed better than the new one.

Gonna have to watch First Blood now too, thanks for the rec

Under siege is a good film. Even back then, you can tell Steven Seagal is an egomaniac, but at that stage his performance is ok. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey are awesome. Story and action is great too.

Also, I think you should rewatch Robocop. "Dumb" isn't a description I would use about that film.

Robocop is kinda dumb. The concept is good but the toxic chemical skin melting scene, and the ED-209 and the SUX-9000 kinda dumb

It's a fantastic movie tho

Lmao those are my favourite parts.

I only learned this from RedLetterMedia recently, but Robocop is considered part of a Paul Verhoeven sci-fi trilogy along with Total Recall and Starship Troopers. I think Troopers is a bit on the nose, but Recall is definitely in my top 5 films of all time.

Just watched Total Recall, woulda done it sooner if I'd known Verhoeven directed. It's rly good, a lot of gore for an arnie movie
