Mysteries are the clickbait of story genres. The resolution is always less interesting than the setup but the curiosity draws you along.

Then there's another genre which I suppose activates the small tribe in a hostile environment instinct which you see in stuff like Walking Dead.

There should be a name for the genre which mixes the two together plus a bunch of supernatural stuff. Lost did it originally but there have been a few since.

It was funny at the start how quickly everyone got over the fact that their loved ones had all just died to quickly fast forward the plot to that specific 'misfits work together to survive in a dangerous environment' Lost-like setting.

The romance was pretty awful and felt completely contrived but I guess they thought they needed that too.

There was maybe a good idea in there somewhere but the whole thing felt phony, like it was all based around cheap plot tricks.

Also looking at Sandra Bullock's nose for 2 hours was kind of disconcerting. That should be a warning for celebrityfoids who wanna start carving up their faces.

And okay, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but probably not worth the attention it got at the time.
