Just finished watching Lawrence of Arabia for the first time (yes I'm a !zoomers). Absolute kino, modern film, especially modern British film, can't hold a candle to it. I've already seen Ben-Hur, thinking I might watch Zulu next. Any other Epic recommendations?

This is Cinerama.

More seriously, I haven't seen many epics so can't make personal recommendations, but things like Spartacus and The Ten Commandments come to mind, then things like Doctor Zhivago and Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra, whose quality is, let's say 'up for debate'. They're certainly a spectacle. Then there's things like Caligula and any version of Quo Vadis?, which from what I've heard would be more warnings instead.

But ones I've heard are good include Ran, which is Japanese King Lear from the 80s, and the 8 hour Russian version of War and Peace, though if you want to puss out there's a 3 1/2 hour version from the 50s as well.
