Season 2 does the opposite. There are like 8 main characters and they spend way too much time talking.

Season 1 felt better (I think I'm on episode 5). He has his old team around him, but some of the team building is done via flashbacks. Those are nice/okay, but honestly don't matter at all in the current plot. On the other hand I think without them the current story would feel even worse. In S1 he felt like a one man army that is also kind of missing.
It's still fun to watch though.
