Baldwin, 65, was initially charged in the case in January 2023. But the charges were dropped three months later, after Baldwin's defense team raised questions about whether his Colt .45 was functioning properly when it fired.

Hutchins was preparing to film a scene with Baldwin at a ranch near Santa Fe, N.M., in October 2021 when the gun went off. Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger.

Two special prosecutors sent the gun for further forensic testing last summer.

Their experts reconstructed the gun — which had been broken during FBI testing — and concluded that it could only have been fired by a pull of the trigger.

“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report concluded.

Why would it matter if he pulled the trigger when there were like three people who were supposed to make sure the gun didn't have real bullets in it beforehand?

The case against Baldwin has been bungled since the beginning. Inappropriate comments by the prosecutor, dropping the charges and reinstating them, the FBI accidentally breaking the firearm. The defence is going to have a field day with this. No way this is going to result in a conviction. :marseysuit:

As it shouldn't :soyjakanimeglasses:

This stopped being about getting justice a long time ago, and is now about putting a man in jail for insulting their god-king

The Santa Fe county DA is a Democrat in a county that went 76% for Biden in 2020…

DRUMMMMPPPPPPFFFFFFFF :marseymagarentfree:

The gun was broken during the FBI investigation ? Not suspicious at all. :marseyamogus:

So they're recognizing that there's an armorer on set, and they're charging her (rightfully so). How, then, do they consider it in any way his fault when there's an armorer whose responsibility it was? I just don't get it. If I were to accidentally cause Guy A to unwittingly kill Guy B, then there are two direct victims: Guy A and Guy B. I'd be the only one at fault. Why is Alec Baldwin being charged for manslaughter?

Exactly! He's very clearly and obviously being targeted here regardless of what criteria you apply.

DEATH TO BALDWIN

These prosecutors cannot let this go. Seriously, they can't. This is either going to thrown out by a judge or they will roll the dice taking this to trial only to lose. It was an accident, a tragic one, but still no malice intended or reckless behavior. What a waste of tax dollars and resources.

Poor Alec's wife must be... how you say? Upset?

:pepesimp:

Yeah, this is as much bullshit as it was the FIRST time. He was handed the gun by the person whose VERY JOB was to ensure the safety of firearms on the set. She was hired for no other reason. It's her job, and nobody else's. The armorer is there for this job, not Baldwin.

It gives me no shortage of :marseykekw:s that this super anti-gun Hollywood moralizing dogooder shot a lady in the head because he decided to point a gun right at her.

Even if it had been loaded with blanks you don't point guns right at people because they'll still forcefully discharge hot gasses. Perhaps a mandatory gun range class for all actors might have saved her life. :marseysmug2:

It is kind of crazy how almost every actor claims all these roles require insane prep work that can take months or even years, but a single afternoon to take a basic gun safety course before they handle real firearms is apparently too much of a hardship for them to ever even consider suffering through.

Really makes me :marseyhmm: why these idiots are discussing gun regulation constantly when they're dumb enough to point actual guns at people instead of fakes.

Honestly bizarre to me that they use real guns at all - like they don't use real knives during stabbing scenes.

Regular gun rules don't and can't apply to Hollywood sets. How do you think a neighbor is supposed to shoot a fricking film without ever pointing a gun at anything?

Pretty sure he was messing around with the thing during downtime

He was practicing for shots. Dude has probably done so safely 50 million times over the course of his career because there's like a hundred million special set safety rules set up to make that possible, all of which were ignored or undermined by other people.

People who crashed planes often flew them correctly a million times but you only have to frick up once :marsey57:

And he wasn't the only one at fault but he still pulled the trigger, BIPOC. It wasn't normal practice nor was it a scene being shot.

That's totally normal practice on a movie set. Sorry you're a terminal wingcuck who wants Baldwin to be guilty because shitlibs.
