The first two episodes are out. It's not on the same level as BoB (8.5/10) or TP (8/10), but it's a solid 7.5 so far.

Masters of the Air is a 2024 American war drama streaming television miniseries created by John Shiban and John Orloff and developed by Orloff for Apple TV+. It is based on the 2007 book Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller and follows the actions of the 100th Bomb Group, a B-17 Flying Fortress unit in the Eighth Air Force during World War II; the unit was nicknamed the “Bloody Hundredth” due to the heavy losses it incurred in combat missions. The series serves as a companion to Band of Brothers (2001) and The Pacific (2010). It is also the first series to be produced by Apple Studios, in cooperation with Playtone, and Amblin Television.

The Pacific had it's moments but it was definitely nowhere near as good as BoB.

Preach king.
One of the two books it was based on (Helmet for my pillow) was also way worse than the band of brothers book.

Eh, I rewatched it recently and I have to say I've revised my opinion of it and rate it way closer to BoB. I think people were put off because they were explicitly expecting BoB but got something much more bleak and disconnected, which was its whole point compared to BoB. I also got to give it credit for being “ war is shit” rather than “ le war is bad”

I don't think American media companies are ready to show how shit war can really be...
This battle is considered a victory because Klaus got a new pair of boots.

I love Chinese war movies like the one about Chosin Reservoir. It takes skill to turn 130,000 vs 30,000 into a patriotic movie.

Chosin definitely was a victory for China but at the same time the Chinese basically took 10:1 the casualties with an 4:1 size advantage and the US still broke out of their massive encirclement fine lol.
IIRC in the Chinese movie they capture the city the US retreated to and captured them all or something to make it seem more impressive than it was as in reality the US completely evacuated with all of their soldiers, material and civilians.

I'd say Pacific had some battle scenes as brutal as this one, especially on Okinawa.
Great fricking movie BTW, anyone who hasn't seen Stalingrad should find it on YouTube

I haven't seen BoB in years, but I remember getting so bored three-quarters into it. They were doing the usual, "I'm so sad and boring. Yeah, me too." scene #843992284, so I stopped watching. It's like the writers had nothing else to write about. At least with Pacific, there was something different going on, whether the scene involved action or dialogue.
