Amazon was set to make a kino Conan the Barbarian series but #metoo fricked up everything and they brought in some c*nt who hated "toxic masculinity" as the new head of Amazon Prime so they did that awful wheel of time show instead

The most r-slurred part of this is that a good Conan adaptation, while impossible to make "PC", needn't be comically "masculine" in the manner of Schwarzenegger's depiction. Just adapt a Robert E. Howard story directly.

There's a compilation of the original Conan short stories available on audible. It's jarring too hear the term hyperborean used so much unironically, but it's an interesting peak into early fantasy/cosmic horror works.

The Frost Giant's Daughter is a bit of an outlier since it's an almost direct adaptation of an Ancient Greek myth. In all the other stories there's tough girl boss characters and Conan never hurts a woman (there are female villains but they either get killed by the girlboss or dispatched by a third party, in some increasingly strained ways).

Right in the article it says that after they bought Wheel of Time they thought THAT was still too toxically masculine and had to neuter the property even further.
There's no way anything as manly and adventurous as Howard's Conan would ever be allowed, unless you turned Conan into the cuck sidekick to Red Sonja or some godawful shit like that.
