Star Trek TOS "Elaan of Troyius" is a bad episode, just want to confirm that for everyone

This one has just never worked for me.

I blame the script first. The whole concept forces every character into idiot plotting. The princess somehow doesn't know what she's getting into it. The leaders of the planets sent her into this knowing what a b-word she is. Starfleet is r-slurred enough to get involved.

Second the princess needs to deliver a really commanding performance here and it doesn't work for me. France Nuyen was a pretty accomplished actress. I think she did all right with what she was given. But that was a bad script, bad costume (very rare in TOS), terrible wig. Her motives flip around wildly.

Typical 3rd season TOS. Just going through the motions without really having any interesting ideas.

!trekkies if anyone sees some hidden virtue in the episode then change my view.

I don't think I've seen an entire TOS episode before. Are they worth watching?

Absolutely. You might cry and shit your pants because they're actually about ideas that are timeless. There's about 70 episodes and about 1/3 are actually meaningful and thought provoking. The bad ones are at least fun bad.

If you feel the urge to say the acting is "corny" or something, my neighbor Shatner was doing The Life of Suzie Wong on Broadway before your grandparents accidentally conceived your parent.

They're way smarter than anything made in Hollywood today (except for some of these half-assed episodes at the end).

And if you think it looks hokey, just imagine it's a local minimalist arthouse stage play but really really well done.
