It's good.
I'm sorry you have been r*ped by so many bad adaptations that seeing a woman and a black man makes you cringe but it's really not bad
Take a chill pill, understand they can't just use the same story from like 20 years ago, and enjoy it.
Walton is really good, the chick does a really good job to. All the acting is on point.
Watch it and then make a 20 paragraph post why it's bad, or thank me for setting you straight.

It's a great show idk why everyone won't give it a chance like you! Take it from me an average guy that this is a good show for fallout fans and โnormiesโ alike!

People are assblasted about breaking โcanonโ in a video game about a made world where the players choices can dramatically change the story of the game anyway and it's just aspies and incel vidya geeks.
The story is on point with the games (kidnapped super scientist dad, broken water processing unit, not really knowing what Dad and the other vault overseers are really up to).
The cast isn't 90% fat black lesbians, heck there was even a heterosexual s*x scene in the first episode. Oh, and the cowboy ghoul is great.
I'm really surprised I'm enjoying it, I think it has a lot to do with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy being exec producers.

It's not so much about breaking canon as attempting to wallpaper over the good Fallout games because Bethesda didn't make them. Weird changes like the what they did House and the NCR feel more spiteful than something made with a real purpose. Going mostly off word of mouth though on exactly what those were though. I gave up during episode 2 because I thought the costumes and "sets" were lazy.

Bethesda was involved in making New Vegas they published it. Plus when I played NV I absolutely destroyed the NCR every chance I had and killed House.

I'm not watching it because practically every streaming show these days insists on stretching a threadbare plot over multiple seasons. The golden era of tv which was happening quite recently died because it was imperative to milk as many episodes as you could. I can't think of any recent series I've watched that I liked, that didn't turn into a snorefest by season 2.

I think they want to avoid the WestWorld trap - deliver the whole story in one season then flail around when renewed unexpectedly.

The golden era of TV is 90's Star Trek !trekkies
Modern "TV" "seasons" are just godawfully paced 10 hour movies that end in a cliffhanger for the next season, which you have to wait 3 years for.

That's why I started watching k-dramas. They actually have a proper ending that wraps everything up instead of going on until they suck enough to get canceled.
Unfortunately Netflix is bringing the American model over there now.

Akshually, the BMW example is inconsistency/bad writing honey and is not what I'm referring to. Rather I was talking about how lore autists overthink stuff too much like โhow much food do ASOIAF dragons need? Do they run out of fuel?โ Like all fantasy and scifi lit/media will inevitably require you to turn off your brain on some things

My favorite parts of the game are the silly parts and the weird stories that make no sense.
Like there are probably just as many plot holes in every game if you used other outside lore to compare it too

I guess my point is a lot of the criticism is the show has plot holes yet thats only if your using outside knowledge on an neurodivergent level.
So anything silly in the show will be used against it as possible "that would never happen/not realistic".

There is only one scene i can remember that i rolled my eyes.
The show really takes it time. It is not rushed and the characters make smart choices.
Like some g*mers are saying "she has no survival instincts" flat out not true. Shes smart but does not know the wasteland.
Kinda like how a vault dwellers would be? Just because your character in the game comes out of the vault ready to fight and kill, thats not the world you where raised in the game. So if she was a bad butt killer who knew everything that would not only not make sense but be worse. She uses her brain, like testing if some one has high levela of radiation to tell they are a hidden raider.
I really dont know what people want from a fallout show because its all really well done fan service very well with having a story that can hold you interest. Shady vault tech shit, dirty drug doing raiders only thing thats lacking is the brother hood character is a newbie so not bad butt, but he has good character development.
Sorry for the long comment thats just some my thoughts jumbled up.

It seems to be a jarring disconnect from playing a fallout game as an aware and informed agent and watching a character in a fallout role that isnt meta gaming.

The second episode was a little rough, and that's where a lot of the stuff in the trailer was from. First episode and everything after the second have been mostly fun though. I'm liking the story and they're not afraid to embrace weird characters. Maximus is a straight up neurodivergent psychopath that thinks he could be a good person if he can just kill anyone that finds out he's not. My favorite character so far. The actor is FANTASTIC at playing the role and I honestly think he might have some bodies buried in his basement. I like that they show the main female character struggling to fight against men, and typically only winning through luck or tactics.
The whole snip-snip sequence was hilarious (though I wish they hadn't spoiled it in the trailer).
They get into how FRICKED most vault projects were and it's another place where they're not afraid to get fricking weird with it.
All four of the main parallel storylines are interesting and have kept me engaged.
I still have two more episodes to go so no spoilers please or I'll bully you until the end of this website but so far I've really enjoyed it.

She repeatedly gets the shit kicked out of her by guys and tossed around like a ragdoll instead of being some super badass that can take any guy no matter how big. The only dudes she kicks the crap out of are a bunch of nerds that work in a laboratory, and guards show up and subdue her.
