Which John Wick movie is your favourite?

I rewatched the tetralogy over the week. Seen 1 through 3 couple times but it was my first time watching chapter four, which in all honesty I feel was the weakest movie of the series. I know that with each movie there's more and more escalation and with it comes suspense of disbelief, but for me it crossed the line with the blind assassin. I just couldn't take it seriously after that. Though I will admit, as a character he's pretty cool. Another thing I disliked was that so many people were now wearing bulletproof armour that it lowered the stakes and needlessly dragged out the shootouts. I liked it more when it was a special thing reserved for the select few. Oh and also the seeker character. He was completely pointless, I'm not sure why they put him in.

Anyways, my favourite has to be either 2 or 3. 2 is just very good all around with cool action and believable story, but 3 had absolutely amazing action in my opinion (the opening fights with knives, the Casablanca fight with dogs and of course the siege on Continental were all :marseychefkiss:) but the plot is kind of insignificant as the movie ends in about the same state as it starts in, making everything feel a bit pointless.

I also know that there's a short series called the Continental, which I wasn't considering watching, but I just found out that Mel Gibson is in it and since it has good rating I might give it a go too.

So which one's your favourite?

1 easily.

No buletproof suits. Club shootout.

The worldbuilding and setpieces get out of hand in the other ones.

2 is still decent, 3 is mid at best.

What you didn't like the part where all the hobos are actually super secret professional assassins that are just pretending to be drunk junkie bums?

I agree with your reasoning, it does get less and less believable the further it goes on. However I disagree with your conclusions because as I already stated I think the visuals and the fight scenes elevate the latter films as they are more grandiose there.

Have you seen Nobody? That's a pretty cool film which tries to stay grounded (in so far as an action movie can be). I think you might like it.

I haven't seen it.

The clubfight from the first one is the only fight I rewatched, I actually hardly remember fights from 2 and 3.

1 is fine as a "roller coaster movie" that doesn't try to be deeper than a bunch of nicely choreographed action. Don't see the need for any sequels except :marseybux: from :marseysoyhype: Watch Collateral if you want an actually good movie about a super-assassin gun-fu master

Collateral was good, but inferior in my opinion.

Actually maybe not inferior, less memorable is probably the right word

1 is best. 2 really captures the weird atmosphere it should have focused on over the world building. 3 and 4 were enjoyable but they just got neurodivergent franchisecheese with the world building, which should only support the atmosphere.

So he can be a POC main character in John Wick 5

I still can't believe James Bond got replaced with a black woman in the last film

I swear an outside observer would conclude the Black people are some sort or magical superbeing if they were to take an overall impression of pop culture for the last decade

I like the one where he fights and kills a bunch of people.

1. Great build up, great shoot out scenes, club scene is :marseychefkiss:

2. More cool shooting and action scenes we like, even involving a police horse. World building gets a little weirder and absurd near the end where everyone in new york central park is apparently an assassin.

3. Love the doggos, great action scenes still.

4. Pretty good finale including some greats. The black dude was literally unnecessary and useless. If he's the next face of Wick the series will drop off because of how unlikable he was.
