Just watched it the other day. I haven't read the source material but the show was trash in my opinion. Instead of focusing on the interesting stuff (planning for an alien invasion 400 years in the future) they focus on a bunch of whining moralstrag foids and their beta orbitters that are supposed to be enlightened scientists but instead focus 99% of their brainpower on their relationships and crying about the poor. The 1% they have left is used to pretend popscience concepts from the 50s are their novel idea to defeat the aliens.

I thought it was ok. Got better in the later episodes when it wasn't centered around the Jenna Ortega looking shit actor and her BBC. I also hated the deviations from the book until later on when you realize they pulled in a lot of characters from the second book to avoid having the second season be entirely new characters. A lot of it is setup for the second book which most agree is way better.
