Eccleston was very serious while later doctors were generally more lighthearted so I can totally see liking Eccleston only. There are some Tennant episodes that are VERY good though and take themselves pretty seriously. Once you hit Smith its all a bit Xd so qUiRkY tho

For what it's worth if you want to skip around a bit, the best Tennant episodes off the top of my head are The Silence in the Library (double ep), Midnight, Blink, and The Planet of the Ood. There's other good stuff in there but those would be my biggest don't-miss eps.
