I haven't seen it, but enjoy beard TV guy :marseylongpost: on why *Furiosa* is the most important movie redefining cinema or w/e

George Miller has been living in that Wasteland, off and on, since 1979. With this series, he has pushed the boundaries of what an action film, what a sci-fi film, what a film, period, can be. With Furiosa, he has redefined what a Mad Max film can be. I hope he never stops making them.

Many critics have noted the Peepeeensian nature of Furiosa, considering its episodic structure spanning years, but also in how it depicts a society and its ills developing over time.

But this is more than an aesthetic; Furiosa is telling a grand narrative about the history of the Wasteland, as Peepeeens did with his tales of industrial cities—just swap out the impoverished children in Victorian workhouses for War Boys in the Citadel.

Why do these dudes love these movies so fricking much? Is it just because stuff exploded but it's not Transformers IX?

They can't just let these movies be cool. I haven't seen Furiosa, but all the Mad Max movies are just cool action films that are well made (yes I even love Thunderdome), and these losers can't just acknowledge movies can be cool for just being what they are. It's like they're desperate to make them "high brow", which ruins the appreciation of what actually makes them so good

Well no, see, because then they'd be basal animals no better than those ignominious blue collar workers that are simultaneously to be venerated for their contribution to a society's labor and racist misogynists undeserving of electoral rights.

There should be a standardized cutoff point where you're being such a fartsniffer, youre allowed to be called a limp wristed cute twink without society being weird about it.

Thunderdome sucked, it's like a parody of a mad Max movie.

I'm still completely baffled by all the hype about how great the story and characters were. I've seen tards discussing its "feminist themes" as if this is something new and groundbreaking and automatically makes it a great movie. Give me a fricking break. The plot is designed to set up car chases. And Furiosa is not the first female action hero or even a particularly interesting one.

My favorite part is how the garden of Eden scene had both wind turbines and an obese woman. As well as what was possibly a trans woman with purple hair, although I may have hallucinated that part

That fatty! If you've got a fatty in your post-apocalyptic sliver of greenery you've got someone eating all your food. No wonder it disappears by Fury Road, fatty ate it all.

This nameless extra undermines the premise of the scarcity of food by her mere existence. I did like the film, but the very start of it didn't work for me.

This movie is unironically less innovative in cinematic terms than the previous one. Fury Road went to extremes to have practical effects for all the cool shots, and consequently they still look beautiful even a decade later. Furiosa has a ton of CGI slop that looks ugly on opening weekend.

The only cool thing they did is gradually increase the CGI on Alyla Browne so that the transition from the child to adult actress is smoother.

Every day from the second I wake up to when my butt hits the bed at night, I hold my farts in. Not to be polite, or adhere to social standards, but instead so I have a full magazine of butt juice loaded to release at moments notice. If it were me sitting there, I would have released the most blood curling, chair cracking, butt ripping, underwear staining, wet, church house creeper while staring her straight in the eyes. Then, while I see the horror on her face and never break eye contact, I would take a deep inhale through my nose to taste the satisfaction of victory as both of her lungs collapse.
