Was Longlegs disappointing? Yes. Did it bore me to DEATH? Yes. Was the story stupid and the acting bad? Yes. Did I like it? No!

Had high hopes for this one so it was really disappointing that it sucked. It looked similar to Silence of the Lambs, Seven, Mindhunter, etc... cerebral horror thriller. I'd give the trailers a 10/10 but the actually payoff was a boring mess

The protagonist is borderline neurodivergent and there's lot's of long pauses and slow dialogue. There's a supernatural, devil-made-me-do-it element that undermines the inherent creepiness of the serial killer premise. It's very overproduced with the wrong decision being made at nearly every turn

Also, the Jews need to get back in charge and fire the goy who paid Nick Cage money for an unrecognizable character that could've been played by your garden variety crazy

Anyone else see it? I really want to talk about it because I'm annoyed

Just saw it tonight. 6/10. I was worried we were going to get a "it was all a dream :marseyscream:" "reveal" near the end, but thankfully it wasn't that.

Liked nick Cage, but I am a fan of some of his more zany performances like Mandy and color out of space. The lead actresses' performance is quite neurodivergent; I don't recognize her so I don't know whether it's her acting skill or perhaps being under the influence of the doll. The whole doll thing was weird; the ball thing posessess them... Just because, ok? The coroner guy who cut it open thought he heard something, why didn't he go nutso? She doesn't remember anything... Just because of the ball? Did she just stay in her room from the age of 9 to 18? Maybe that's why she's neurodivergent. :marseyxd:

Liked the cinematography and lighting, that was good .

6/10 fits. Before I get back to pooping on it, I liked the cinematography and setting. Also it was original, even if it missed a lot of marks, so it gets props for those things

I don't think the ball had been opened when the coroner was examining the doll. Regardless the supernatural element of the doll was stupid. You could salvage the doll thing without making it demonic and it'd probably be scarier

I also had similar thoughts about it being a dream. There were parts before the devil thing had been established where it could've easily been chalked up to imagination

I wish they didn't give Nick Cage the washed out rocker aesthetic. I felt like that level of detail took out a lot of the creepiness where they could've just done nothing and left it to the imagination. He was aesthetically creepy but something about the guitar and the singing and the Lou Reed posters felt humanizing or at least removed the preternatural power of a faceless intruder.

That is a good point about being in an r-slured fugue state though. She's somehow rainman when it comes to solving the same case she missed when her mother was delivering murder dolls for several decades
