It would've been a fantastic story if they'd done it from the perspective of the woman and it doesn't show you all the Ypipo stuff but either Scorcese or DiCaprio wanted a big star as top billing so instead we get a really boring film where there's just nothing to keep you interested

Bad casting in the first place, horrible idea to centre the whole movie on them. The Osage lawyer is a more interesting character than either and he didn't get a single line of dialogue.
