On the one hand, Bay does one thing very well, which is spectacle and scale of mass destruction. The overuse of explosion meme is definitely a legitimate problem, and he can phone it in hard. But, as a relevant example, the Chicago invasion scene from the third Transformers is a really good depiction of an alien armada touching down and slaughter. So that works for something that's founded in potty destruction and not much else. I guess.
On the other, there is no way in either premise or execution, that you can get an audience to take a potty people invasion seriously. Not to mention that the things Gen Alpha sees on the internet are definitely around the PG-13 rating (or are simply grotesque in a way that's not easy to rate), which could push some parents away. But it's violent enough YouTube slop where it would warrant that rating.
