Weekly What are you watching thread #5

I saw Deadpool and Wolverine in theaters and, well, it was exactly what I expected. The movie is dumb af but Ryan Reynolds does his best and the movie had a decent amount of slashing and stabbing :marseypopcorn:

I've also been watching DCAU stuff like Batman Beyond and Justice League. I almost forgot that these shows were actually pretty good :notbad:

Capeshit aside I saw some Colombo episodes :marseycolombo: I don't really watch much of those crime dramas but Colombo is pretty good. I also kind of like the Rockford Files. Fun fact: DCAU Lex Luthor is based on actor Telly Savalas who is famous for Kojak, another crime drama from that era.

Anyway what is everyone in !kino watching?

@Aevann please pin :marseybegging:

I just finished The Boys after starting from season 1. The politics parallels were a bit cringe but overall I enjoyed it

I appreciate that they at least tried to mock both sides, got kind of preachy towards the last season tho

Just finished the dragonslop finale.

I can't believe they made an entire filler season of HOTD. And another Rhaenyra Alicent chat, I was expecting they would make out at this point.

Wife and I have been watching Shogun. It's been fun. If there was a blueprint to copy for Isekai bullshit anime, it would be this show.

Where a barbarian becomes a factor in Japanese internal politics.

The barbarian is an r-slured Brit. There was a point I'm reminded how shit they are at making food; he was gifted a pheasant by the lord that took him in his clan and he lets it hang out to be tenderized by the air. But it's a humid environment and the flies basically ruin it.

Tried to make rabbit stew out of it, which even by Brit standards it's a poor hunter's stew and he thinks that's an appropriate food to share with them lmao.

It's a contrast to the bullshit Isekai where the outsider comes in and instead of being a loser he's an outright hero doing heroic shit.

It triggered me how the Japanese spoke Japanese which was Japanese but the Brit spoke English which was actually Portuguese wtf just get a Portuguese actor.

Yeah that was disjointing but I'm guessing the show didn't want to be in subtitles the whole time.

I know what you mean but it's a show on fx. We would raise heck if a show on an American network had zero English and all subtitles.

In Hunt for Red October the Soviet characters never stop speaking Russian. The film just not so subtly transitions to English for the benefit of the Western actors and audience.

Backdoor babes 4. About halfway through, the plot goes soft at various times but for the most part is rock solid tight.

i loved that too, all of rhe controversial scenes have been removed from youtube. My favorite is when he wants to experience giving birth as a man from his "momb" and hires a midwife. Also anything with the convict and I also loved when he interviews OJ

I saw The :marseyking: of the :marseyxdorbit: of the :monke:

It was actually way better than I thought. The previews made it seem like a completely different movie than what they were going for.

>underground clones of a small town looking for purpose
