Supposedly the ensuing seasons should be much cheaper because most of season 1 production money was spent building sets and those are very expensive.
However season 1 looked rather cheap. HOTD season 1 had a budget of 200 million and looked much better.
Worth mentioning that production costs don't account for money spent in publicity. Memenheimer's publicity expenses for instance amounted around 80 million dollars.

At least LOTR had a great adaptation into film. Even if the Peter Jackson's trilogy wasn't 100% like the book, it was still like 80-85% faithful and the films are fantastic on their own right.
Wheel of Time was unlucky to have been adapted by the worst streaming service after the current year.

The problem I have with Rangs of Powah isn't that there are black people in it, ( I got over it ), the problem I have with the show is that it doesn't look like characters in a fantasy world, but people from present day jew York time traveled to a fantasy world.
For example- The original LOTR movies have a timeless look where the characters will always feel like they belong within the setting and are not separate from it.
