I didn't realize until like halfway through that the first episode was supposed to be recapping what happened in the first two seasons. They did such a shitty job that by the time the next, actual, episode starts i did not remember like anything
This is because movies are still the best way to tell visual stories. TV shows, unless they're limited, can end up getting stale and pointless and lose direction (with obvious exceptions like Sopranos, The Wire, and Eastbound and Down). I haven't seen the second season but I just don't know how much story to tell exists in something like The Bear before it gets tedious
Hard agree. I had high hopes for this season because I thought season 2 was quite good. But this was a lot of wheel-spinning only to be left in a slightly different cliffhanger at the end than we already were last year. But we'll see.
I am biased though being from Chicago and a southsider to boot; I've told people it's the most authentically Chicago show ever made.

there are a few episodes that are masterpieces. it's very chaotic, though. Overall I enjoy the show.

Season 4 needs to have some crazy pay offs otherwise this season was just them spinning the wheels so they can keep getting paid for this show.
