I'm only going off what I read online, so it could be completely r-slurred, but Amazon seem to be cagey about how exactly they're counting views. If you watch five minutes of the show, go "this is rubbish" and log out, that counts the same as if you watched an entire episode, or all the episodes in a season. So the "40 million views!" could be 40 million people watching part of an episode, we don't exactly know because Amazon isn't saying how it counts views.
To be fair, I am hatewatching it because I can't wait to see how stupid they go with each new episode, so I can't throw any stones.
