The nerds at r/boxoffice are discussing Star Wars again :marseynerd2:

Here's an actually interesting thread about SW toys: https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/1fvdfkb/is_disney_bad_at_star_wars/lq673zh/?context=8

And another one about the general apathy surrounding the fandom nowadays: https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/1fvdfkb/is_disney_bad_at_star_wars/lq660az/?context=8

I agree, all around. Chewie hurt, i can still picture that in my mind like it was yesterday.

Fricking shit what's wrong with redditors? :marseywut2:

I suspect Kathleen Kennedy actually really hates George Lucas and Steven Spielberg and has been working her entire career just for the chance to see their creations turned into shit.

That's actually a good point :peperealization:

If any of you live near an Ollie's discount outlet, drop in some time and look at the absolute MOUNTAINS of unsold Star Wars figures. It's insane how much unsold stock there is, they really thought Disney-Wars was gonna be a perpetual cash cow…

Disney bought the franchise with the sole purpose of bleeding Star Wars whales dry, that's the only way you can explain the massive volume of content and toys plus that highly expensive hotel. But they also decided to insult all mega fans so now they are left with a bunch of very casual viewers who occasionally watch some starslop episode half asleep but would just as easily watch literally anything else :marseyshrug:

I guess they though Star Wars fans are so obsessed with the franchise that they will consooom any related content no matter how much Disney humiliates them :marseydisneypat:

I think it's mostly :marseycope: because people here hate Disney, Star Wars has generated $12 billion in 12 years since the acquisition. Yes there have been missteps, yes some of the new content is bad, but I don't think that many mega fans have been truly run off the franchise they're just older and more cynical than they were before.

Even the bad movies have been quite profitable.

:#marseybruh2:

They've destroyed more than $12 billion in the value of the brand. I mean ffs my high school freshman English class was based on Star Wars. That's how big it was. You could expect that everyone had seen it. Now you can say a lot about market fragmentation, whatever bullshit, but they've ruined the brand.

:marseyshrug: Look I think all the Marvel movies were awful but they made a lot of money and normies ate them up. I'm not convinced it's over for Star Wars. A few Mandalorian S1 quality products and it's back on track for the most part.

I mean

Is that not obvious??

They bought it on the basis that they could then do anything with Star Wars and still make money

Success is a menace

It fools smart people into thinking they can't lose
