Got into a pre screening on Conclave mini spoiler free review

If you are interested in the movie at all I would skip this review and sequester ( :marseywink: ) yourself til it comes out...

Saw the movie last night, thought it was a great thriller. all the acting was great. The movie did a very good job building tension.

I thought there was weird addition in the last 5 min that I think will cause controversy when it does come out, and it does take away a little from the overall picture, but still worth a watch.

Crazy that the movie is PG and I didn't even really notice.

My papist friend generally liked it but complained it made Benedict look too neurodivergent.

It's not a religious movie. It's about an elderly Argentinian man who happens to be a cardinal, philosophing and reflecting about life with an old German man who happens to be the Pope, and some religious undertones.

They used actual Argentine actors for the flashbacks and to dub Jonathan Pryce on the scenes he spoke "Spanish" and used legit Argie slangs and references.

I actually haven't seen it. @johannesalthusius was telling me to watch a different one about an Irish priest but my rule of thumb is that I don't really want to support :marseysatanworship2: Hollywood :marseysatanworship2: when depicting matters of faith unless I get a direct recommendation from multiple priests/close IRL friends.

Something I dislike about film in general as a medium is that it replaces my own imagination and internal imagery with the vision of the director. I forget if you ended up getting pinged when I said this, but more than Peter Jackson absolutely ruining the character of Frodo or some plot inconsistencies introduced in the movies, what has really soured me on Lord of the Rings is that I can't enjoy it anymore without seeing the movie characters. :marseysadge:
