why did Speak No Evil (2024) felt like liberal propaganda?

Because the director intended the movie to be viewed through the lens of toxic masculinity. Still was a fine movie though.

>Remake of a movie that was released 2 years ago

What? But why?

Foreign film remade for English speakers. Very popular in the horror market.

I didn't get that vibe, but I was me enjoying the ride. I haven't seen the original either. I can definitely see what you're saying, but it didn't stand out enough to distract me.

I haven't seen it either but from what I read the original is more about the passiveness of people and the willingness to let people get away with shit out of fear of offending them. Also the ending is different.

Yeah, that was my understanding as well, and I didn't need the bleakness. I didn't need a Funny Games ending.

>boohoo my toy is back at the creepy r*per dude's house we have to go back dad

>ok let's go back to the r*pe house for the toy instead of telling that dumb b-word kid to suck it up

It's true, the husband was written weaker and subconsciously more appreciative of James McAvoy's lack of inhibition, but I liked that meant he was more easily pressured by everyone. He wasn't allowed to trust his more primal instincts when they kicked in earlier, but both he and the wife fought back, as a team, when it came time to.

I really liked the film a lot.

I watched the danish 2022 version and it was butt. If the 2024 american remake is anything like that then it felt this way because it was trash about literally nothing and so you are desperately trying to ascribe any meaning you can to what you saw. Frick that film for making me waste an evening on it

I thought it was good. One of the rarer films where I enjoyed watching it go where I knew it was going without getting annoyed that they hadn't reached the fireworks factory yet.

It was also interesting to see how boundary pushers manipulate their victims when they've pushed too hard. All of them are used, and you recognise a lot of them from the psychos you see pull them, at least online where psyhopathic behaviours thrive.
