Premier Smith outlines the following changes that will impact school divisions:
The Government of Alberta will require parental notification and an opt-in requirement for students who are learning curriculum involving gender identity, sexual orientation or human sexuality
Third-party resource materials or presentations related to gender identity, sexual orientation or human sexuality in K-12 schools will need to be pre-approved by the Minister of Education to ensure materials are age-appropriate
For students aged 15 and younger, the government will require parental notification and consent for changes to a student's name or pronoun
For students aged 16 and 17, parental notification is required but consent is not required
Alberta already had a few protests over the changes. Unfortunately, I'm at work so I can't post any seething atm.
