Surely if we pay the natives billions of dollars they will stop asking for money :marseyclueless:

So APPARENTLY you can get money if youre a native who was forced to go to day school which as a racist colonizer you would think is literally just school.

BUT apparently no. Day schools, chud, were JUST as bad as residential schools, maybe worse because they had to cram 24 hours of oppression into just 8.

The government paid out like 6 BILLION dollars to the heya hoyas in an effort to put the matter to rest but they want to reopen the settlement because they spent all their money on smokes and lottery tickets already or smth.

Basically this means they will be able to keep the settlements open in perpetuity all the while launching new ones, on top of the other ever increasing funding they ask for.

So far, 150,200 claims have been paid out, at a cost of approximately $5.7 billion.

This sounds shocking and horrible at first, but then you gotta remember 99% of that went straight back into liquor companies and diabetes medicine.

Northern Store is actually the North West company which was basically the British East India Company but for leafland. Their head office has cannons off the old ships and their current trade routes are literally identical to the fur trade/slave/sugarcane routes they started off with in the age of sail.

The rez chiefs always get a cut of the profits in each community that's why no one's raised the issue

I don't think Northern sells liquor. I bet there's less than 10 liquor stores over the three territories.

I searched liquor store on Maps for Nunavit and nothing came up so I assumed the whole territory was dry.
