In cases like this does the person actually get fired? I always wondered if they would just put out statements like this to resolve the situation but then keep him on. Like, who is ever going to know?
like obviously when a high profile person gets canceled by the internet they actually have to get fired, but who tf is ever going to find out rajesh kumar or whatever is still working as a data scientist at some bank

I think that opens them up to liability - not necessarily legal liability but more in terms of PR.
