Iirc 20% of student visas here have never actually enrolled in school but there were only 15k deportations in the last year (in total, not just student ones) so he could probably do whatever and not get deported lol. Unsure about what actually legally is supposed to happen tho

If he was a student with a work permit, then no, but if he was a temporary foreign worker then yes.
Probably not though. If he claims asylum he gets basically 3 years here no problem before they hear his case. They dont deport criminals here, sometimes they even give them a more lenient sentence as not to jeopardize their immigration status
