We would like to acknowledge that this hole is established on the traditional and vibrantly coloured land of Don Cherry. We recognize the many years of service and garishly coloured joy he has brought us here on Turtle Island. May we continue to celebrate the spirit of Don Cherry's land with respect and appreciation.

I was a kendrick stan the entire time and i linked that song to my black friend right as it came out and hes like "that song isnt even good" then he memory holed the entire thing and switched sides as it became obvious drake lost horribly.

lol why do people act like Drake was some badass rapper
It's fricking drake, beating him at a rap beef isn't a skill
Drake made good pop hits and his first album was creative and original. But absolutely noone is thinking he's some Tupac lyricist.
besides maybe white non-hiphop fans who suddenly have important opinions on rap beefs

Kendrick has always been seen as the rapper white people should like by black people, but IRL he's got tons of black people who like that smug pseudo-intellectual thing but still street, the thing middle class black people like.
its probably split about 50-50

The skill was in beating Drake in a pop beef and damaging his image to those white hip-pop fans. There's probably a thousand lyrical miracles that could say even worse things about Drake in a more technically impressive fashion but nobody else in rap besides Kanye is popular enough in the mainstream to get a song about Drake being a p-dophile to go #1.

mostly because it was a good song though, designed for night clubs, it had solid production w/ an A+ sample and songwriting made by a team of people who know how to make catchy songs
the songwriters behind both of Kendricks most famous Drake disses, one was co-produced (aka songwritten) by Taylor Swift producer and Not Like Us was by written by Jack Harlow's producer. And then a hiphop producer put together the beats.
If Drake made a catchier song he'd have done better, I doubt more biting lyrics would have mattered as much as that if ppl arent bumping it on Spotify

I spend most of my free time making music, I'm familiar.
Songwriting is not what you think it is, some extreme examples:

Every major rapper has a crew of people sketching out songs before it gets to the final producer,
Songwriters make the gist of the melody, often the hook, and the sketch out the base concept, then send it to young producers for early version, they have freelance rappers make drafts. Then the final rapper will flesh out the final lyrics and flow
That shit wasnt produced overnight by Kendrick, 100%. It's too good and polished. They have a pipeline ready full of songs.
