Imagine seeing residential schools in comparison to the current state of reservations in America and still thinking it's a big deal, lol.
Something white people will never understand, when you conquer or enslave an enemy, you better make sure they are 100% converted into the culture or murdered otherwise you get r-slurred situations like this until the end of time.
It would have been far more humane to just erase the native culture ASAP instead of just leaving them in an odd limbo state as a decaying corpse of a people.
